ITV distributes high-quality content on many of their platforms globally and ITV also creates and produces a broad range of programmes like drama, entertainment and factual. Their customer base is diverse, producing for international television broadcasters and over-the-top platforms. ITV started due to the result of the Television Act 1954, which it meant that it changed the establishment of a commercial television service in UK and in result, created the Independent Television Authority. ITV began in 22nd September 1955 on Channel 3 and by 1973 there were 15 separate Channel 3 regional broadcasting licenses and each of the regional licenses was run by a separate company. ITV has expanded to many channels with the launch of ITV2 in 1998, ITV3 in 2004, ITV5 in 2005, CITV in 2006 and ITVBe in 2014.

Do you know more about the industry?

I know somethings about ITV. I know ITV is one the most watched and one of the most popular channels in the UK and it is also well known for airing shows like Emmerdale and Coronation St. ITV is also known for their kids channel CITV, where they broadcast children's shows and most popular is Horrid Henry. ITV is one of the most the biggest commercial television network in the UK and according to their website, they are 'passionate about content, and most importantly we understand our audiences.'

Does it help you think more about potential careers?

Not really because I really like the idea being a sports journalist as I like to write about my favourite sport which is football and also I have really good knowledge about the sport as well and I just don't see myself in other career. I did find the ITV call-in really useful as it can help in the future for potential companies that I want to work with.

Do you know more about facilities or opportunities available to you?

I know some of the facilities or opportunities that I thinking to go, one of these facilities is either University of Sunderland and Newcastle University because they care about the development of their students and take them to the next level of high education and also, having a good chance of working for well known journalism organisations such as BBC, Daily Mail and The Sun. Out of the two opportunities, I would rather join University of Sunderland because it's the university that is closest to me and I like the education system of the university because I think they have a better way of taking students into a higher level of learning, experience and education.

Has it helped you meet other relevant people?

Yes it has because they told us their experiences working for ITV and for the most part, were positive experiences. During the Q&A, one of the workers from ITV was asked what is like to work for the network and the response was that ITV is very trusting of the people that work for them, I really liked this response because it shows me that ITV takes the well being of their employees very seriously and they trust them of what they do in the studios etc. Because of this positive response, this made me put ITV one of the possible network organisation that I would like to work for along side with BBC.

Has it helped you with your current projects?

During the call in, the people who work for the ITV were giving advice about preparing yourself for the job interview and they pretty much said that we should be confident and brave in interviews and it is fine to be nervous because that's everyone's first thought when they go to an interview and that's normal. I myself get really nervous when I go to interviews but it is normal to be nervous and actious because over time, that feeling will go way and you

Have you learnt new skills?

The skills that they have talked about is team work skills. They told us about how they worked together for filming a show and writing articles, scrips etc. I have learned that working together with friends or colleges will heavily impact your work as you get it done way quicker and also, you learn new skills when working as a team and I have learned quite a bit when working with someone like new editing techniques and photoshop skills.
