Brand Identity

Business Logo:

I had to create my own business logo for my business card, the logo had to be eye-catching to potential employees or audience. The first thing that I had to is looking for examples and basically give my opinions on the logo, what I like, what I dislike and what things that I take from these examples etc. My logo is inspired by the examples that I have found, I took the the idea of putting the initials in the middle and putting the business name below the logo, I was originally going to add leaves around the logo but I didn't like the idea and scrapped it completely. The audience feedback that I have received were mainly positive and I agreed with the majority of the feedback that I have gotten and I have said that I won't change a thing as I'm happy with the final result.

Business Card:

After I was done with my logo, the next step was making a business card. Firstly, I had to search for examples and I choose three examples and I basically did the same thing as I did for the business logo, highlighting and giving my opinion on it if I like it or not and if there is anything I would take out from those examples etc. In my business card, I put my business logo on the left side and my contact details as this is the necessary things to put on my business card so my potential audience or employees can know the company's social media and contact details. The audience feedback were also positive, they liked everything except the logo because it had the white frame on it.

Mock Interview:

I had a mock interview with one of my teachers and the purpose of this mock interview was for me to get the experience to get ready for an actual interview in the near future. First, I had to get ready by filling in the same questions that where going to be asked in the mock interview and when it was my turn, I was understandably nervous at first which is normal but eventually that nervousness passed as timed passed in the room. I answered all of the questions and I did stutter in some of them but it turned out well in the end. My mock interview video was sent to me by my teacher and I had to point out of what did I do well and what I didn't well etc, I basically wrote that I need to be a bit more confident when I'm talking to the interviewer and stutter less when I'm answering the questions.

Showreel:

I had to compile all of my best work from the 2 years in media into a video which is call a showreel. I had to do a showreel because it is part of my own website that I also had to do, I downloaded the videos that I considered to be some of my best work and edit them all together in Premier Pro. The purpose of a showreel is to show to everyone the highlights of your work that you have done throughout your years of being a student of media and when I was done with everything, I posted on my YouTube channel and on my website. The feedback that I received were positive, they like how it is structured and the way the clips are together etc and I appreciated the positive feedback as I agree with most of them.

Digital Profile:

A digital profile is gathering of information and analysis about an individual that exists online. I tasked to gather three digital profile examples and highlight of which one is better than the other one or what things that they have missed to put on their own digital profile. In a digital profile, you need to include where that person works, where they live and what are their aims for the future and each of the three examples included just that as they're opening. There where few issues with one digital profile as one of them did not write further detail about the business that person works at and I did say that the person should have wrote little bit more what the business do etc.

Employment in Industry: Jobs:

I had to research about any potential employments of sports journalism, which is the job that I want to  do after college. I researched vacancies around the UK that have the job role and the one that I liked the most is BBC in Newcastle because I like how the articles are written and well structured. Also, BBC are really friendly with their employees and they care about them which is why I want to join BBC in Newcastle. I also searched other places as well but this time I searched how much does an employee is paid as a sports journalist, places like London, Newcastle and Birmingham an average salary is £26,000 per year.

Industry Inspirations:

For industry inspirations, I had to tell what are my inspirations that make me want to be a sports journalist and I said that my inspirations are people who talk about football in social media platforms such as YouTube, Instagram and Twitter that have a massive following due to their great knowledge of the sport and also inspired me to make a account dedicated to the football club that I support which I'm still posting in that account and now I have more than 700 followers. I did mention a youtuber called 'RabonaTV' which is a channel that posts videos about football and he has over 200,000 subscribers, he is very knowledgeable about football and he gives his opinions about match performances, results, history of football rivalries etc.

Employment in Industry:

I searched about employments within the industry and I have found many options, these options is a chance to work remotely by posting things on social media for specific audience. That's I kind of I want to do if the dream of working for BBC doesn't work and I do have a Instagram account dedicated to the club that I support and I have a 700+ followers but that won't be enough to get paid on Instagram, I need to get at least 1,000 followers to be paid by Instagram.

Higher Education Options:

For higher education options, I searched my three universities that I want to go after I'm done with college. The example was University of Sunderland and its my first choice since I live in Sunderland and to study to a university that is close by from home but that's not the only reason why I want to go to the university. One of the reasons I want to there is because they take improvement/progress of students really seriously to take students to the next level of high education and that's one of the main reasons why I want to join the university as I want to improve my skills in writing as I want to become a sports journalist. Other options like Teesside University and Northumbria University Newcastle are one of them, they have same interest as the University of Sunderland but they are too far way and it is really unlikely that I will join these two universities.

CV:

I had to research about what a CV is which is a document used when applying for a job and allows everyone to summarise their education, skills, experience etc. Also I had to research about how long a CV should be and what to include on a CV, which a CV should be no longer than a A4 paper and a CV should include are details, profile, education, work experience and skills & achievements in order for the interviewer can see what you are good at and if he or she should hire for the job. Then I had to search for examples and highlight what's missing and what needs to improve in order to be perfect and the two examples, I pretty much said that neither of them needs to be improved because they included everything that should be on a CV like details, work experience, skills and achievements.

Personal Statement:

Same thing with the CV, I had to research about what is a personal statement which is an application to study at university and it is a chance to articulate why they like to study a particular course or subject. I researched about what should include in a personal statement and why personal statement is important, a personal statement should include skills, work experience, hobbies, computer skills etc this is in order for the teachers to know a bit more about the student that is applying for college and that is why personal statements are important. I had to search for personal statement examples to highlight them and giving my opinion on them, the two examples show commitments, knowledge, previous studies etc which I give them a pass for including those things because this will make first good impressions when joining a university. Lastly, I had to write an evaluation of my own personal statement which I said that I had a few issues when writing it because it wasn't structured properly or there was something that I missed out but all that was sorted in the end and I managed to submit it to UCAS.

Overall:

The some of the most difficult tasks from B1 in my opinion are probably making my own website and the mock interview. The website wasn't that easy to make because I had a tone of issues with making the website, I had to make sure that everything is in the right order and everything in the right place, for example the I struggle to place the sections into the right tabs but I managed to fix the issue in time and publish it. As for the mock interview, like pretty much everyone when starting an interview, I got nervous when I started but I got calmer and confident when time passed by. After the interview, I received feedback from the interview and I had to write on what I can improve on in order to be confident for the next time I have an interview in the near future. The regret that I have when I look back at B1 is failing to pass it and probably not put much effort as I wanted and that kinda let me down when looking back but I will try to do even more work next time when I'm making other tasks set out by the teacher.
